Dig My Archives Pop-Up Exhibition

Dig My Archives
A pop-up exhibition of the two-year Dig My Archives Schools Project run by the George Padmore Institute

The exhibition will be on display at the Stoke Newington Library - Stoke Newington Church Street, London, N16 0JS - from Tuesday 11th June until Tuesday 2nd July . Then it will be heading south of the river to Clapham Library - 91 Clapham High Street, SW4 7DB - from Tuesday 9th July until Thursday 25th July.

This travelling exhibition highlights the Dig My Archives schools project run by the George Padmore Institute from mid-2011 until the end of 2012. The project aimed to bring the archives of
John La Rose to young people. The key objectives were to highlight the importance and value of archives, raise awareness of the Black civic contribution to post 1960s Britain and inspire young people and their group leaders to access services they may have previously not known of. This exciting project was led by educational facilitator Sarita Mamseri and has been a central part of the GPI’s Heritage Lottery-funded Dream to Change the World Project.

The exhibition has already been displayed at Stoke Newington School, St Martins in the Fields School, the Bernie Grant Arts Centre and the Finsbury Library.
